Birthday and snakes

Friday was my birthday. My mom and dad also celebrated their 17th wedding anniversary. They went out to dinner and when they got back home I got to have my birthday cake and get my present (besides the early present of the bandana). This first picture is of my birthday cake.

Mom said it is called a Twinkie. It is a yummy spongey cake with a whipped cream filling. It was very nummy. The next picture is of me wolfing the last of the cake down.

This is my new froggy and me enjoying froggy. If you bite him he goes ribbit ribbit.

Now on to the tale of the two large snakes. Lots larger than Isabella's snakes but not so deadly!

Here in Albuquerque there is a new subdivision going in called Mesa Del Sol. It is south of the airport and out on the Mesa (flat top of hills). Between the airport and Mesa Del Sol, there is a wide valley through which runs the Tijeras (Ti-her-as) arroyo (waterway), a natural waterway that is dry most of the time. The city ran an extension of one of the streets across the arroyo and valley and straight up into Mesa Del Sol. There is already a music concert venue that they have concerts from the end of May thru mid October. There is now a solar something plant and the beginnings of a movie production company. Mom and dad decided to check out the new road and came upon TWO gigundo snake sculptures, one on the airport side and the other on the Mesa Del Sol side. The first picture shows mom standing beside the head of this giant snake. Mom is 62" (a little over 15 meters) tall.

You can see the snake stretching away into the background. Dad says the snake is around 100 feet (300 meters) long. The rattles on the tail consist of large rocks. The body is made out of concrete made stones colored the appropriate colors for a diamond back rattle snake and grouted together.

This shows the side of the snake. It is approximately 4 feet (12 meters) high. Dad asked mom if she wanted to jump up on it and ride it. Mom was intelligent and said no.

Today we went to the bark park but it was kinda late and there were too many dogs for me to have a good time. Some of the dogs tried to steal Mr. Ring so I got upset. We did stop at a Sonic Drive Inn (like a McDonalds) on the way home. Mom and dad got breakfast burritos and juice for breakfast. Mom shared her burrito with me.

Well- I'm off to have a good snooze. I'm tired.

I LOVE Sonic Drive in! When my parents go, that means I get to go! Too bad I don't get any of that yummy smelling food:(

ender- my mom and dad don't take me very often either. Mostly because I bark at the food bringer people and they get frightened.

Happy birthday! I love twinkies and sonic. You are a very lucky dog. I hope you enjoy your frog. The snake was a little scary, but I would have peed on it!

Happy Birthday! Sounds like you had a super b'day- yummy Twinkie and a new toy. Doesn't get much better than that. I think that snake sculpture is so cool! I wish Linda would sculpt one in our yard- it would sure look better than yard gnomes and cutsey little angels that some of the neighbors have in their yards. Your mom sounds like Linda- I always get some of her food. Aren't burgers the bestest? I love them!

Hi C-K-C,
Happy Bewated Birfday!!! Sorry we missed it. Dummy Mama, she even had it written down. She's had to take allergy pills cause the weather & farmers picking the crops has gotten her sinuses all messed up and she has been so tired lately. (she's been forgetting lots of things, hehehe) She blames it on her fibro fog. We're glad you liked your nice yummy birfday cake. That's a pretty nice froggy you got there too!
That there snake is pretty neat! Someone was very creative. Our fireplace is made out of real fieldstone too. Mama & Papa even collected all of dem from 3 different counties. Anyways, HAPPY BIRTHDAY !!!
Luv & Wirey Hugs!

Butchy & Snickers: I understand about allergies- my mom has them too. Some days it looks like she is crying all of the time. Thank your mom for getting my mom's checkbook cover out so quick. She can't wait to get it.

Isabella: dad thinks those rocks are really cement made in molds and colored. It would take too many of them to just get them from rivers or streams. Besides, we don't get those kind of rocks here very much. Dad is wondering how much those snakes cost us from the cost of the road.

blu and/or comet: Thanks for stopping by.

Lived in Albuquerque in the '80s on North 4th and around the fairgrounds. I stopped through a couple of years ago and was amazed at the development south of the Airport and across the river. I hardly recognized the place. Of course Santa Fe changed even more.

Happy, happy birthday C-K-C. Awesome that you got cake and a froggy--you look very pleased with both.

Did you bark at the snake? That looks like one critter to definitely keep off your property.

You are right to bark at the food bringer people--they sometimes think that they should bring the food to some other people and it's important to set them straight.

You certainly get BIG snakes out there. We have a lot of black snakes in our yard. We like them cuz they eat the squitos.

You're gonna have to explain to me what a "snake" is. I've never seen one before until now. Are they ALL THAT BIG?? If so.. I don't think I wanna live where you live..

Cheerio!

C-K-C....happy burpday, gorgeous gal...Sorry I missed it, but better late etc etc.

Now that twinkie-thingie sounds like it was very scrumpilicious indeed.

And frog looks like you'll be able to pull him apart in no time to stop the ribbit-ribbit.

As for that snake, well, yeah, I'd have lifted the leg and not given it a second thought, myself.

Anyway, happy burpday again, chica (even though I know you have a Skidboot crush, I don't mind being second, or third, or even fourth, or actually any favourite).

Chow for now,

Tin Tin xo.
