Good and bad news

We went to the bark park today. It was pretty cold this morning so mom put a wool blankie that her grammie made her around me cause I was shivering in the car even tho I was sitting on a new wool back-seat blankie just for me. After dad scraped the windows so we could see out, we left for the bark park. I was beginning to think I had done something really bad and was being punished by not going to the bark park but mom explained to me that first there was too much snow to even get in the park and then she was sick and then dad was sick. Even tho we hadn't been since Christmas Eve day, mom managed to walk 4 round trips of the park. I was so happy to be there I kept making whiney noises. I almost ran out of pee to leave pee-mail.

Now the bad news. Mikey died. Sassy and her parents hadn't been to the bark park either cause they were so sad about Mikey. He had cancer and had been fighting it for a long time. His mom and dad said they were glad to get the pictures of Sassy and Mikey we gave them just before Christmas. Sassy has two kitty sibs that help keep her company. She and I ran around and barked and played. It was good for both of us. I told her to be extra nice to her folks and give them lots of licks and hugs so they could get over their sadness. I miss Mikey too. He was such a sweet and gentle soul but I know he is waiting at the bridge and playing and not having cancer.

I also saw Cookie (looks like Tin Tin but fatter), a boxer named Vito, a border collie, the huskies and their Esky friend. A chow mix came up to me and tried to get in my face but I was having none of it. Also the bearded chocolate lab-like dog. He is great fun. I will have mom get his name from his dad.

Now the best news! Everyone was saying on the comments that mom should have given me some liver. She hadn't actually gotten any liver at that point cause she refuses to eat liver. This weekend when she went to the butchers, she got a half pound of beef liver just for me. She cooked it up with garlic. It's been cut in small pieces and she gives me some every little while. This is what it looks like after cooking. I just love it. It is soooo yummy.

She's going to make me some more turkey biscotti too. She hasn't gotten up the nerve to get me a turkey neck like Sunshade gets or try pumpkin. She wanted to know what pumpkin does for a dog. Maybe you guys can tell me.

C-K-C (doing happy dances cause she went to the bark park)

That's sad about Mikey but really good about the bark park and treats. I am looking forward to going back to the bark park once my eye is fully healed up.

Pumpkin is like magic! It will make you poop if you can't and will firm it up if you need it. Plus, it tastes delicious! Be sure your mom gets plain pumpkin or fresh, and not pumpkin pie filling.

I'd love some liver but the ma hates it so I doubt I'll get any anytime soon.

As for biscuits, what are they? The ma hasn't made any for me yet.

I've had pumpkin though. Nice. Well, it's food, isn't it.

Chow for now,

We are so sorry to hear about your friend Mikey. :( I'm sure it made you feel better to get together with your other doggy park friends, though. That and the TREATS!
Thanks for stopping by to say hi to Rocky and Mati! We think it's REALLY cool that Rocky and his dad adopted Mati; they're GREAT!
We love pumpkin, by the way! Mmmm, yeah!
Play bows,
Zim

So sad to hear about Mikey CKC. But at least he isn't in anymore pain. It is nice that your mom got you some liver to eat. I know that my mom will never allow liver in this house. So maybe I'll have to come visit you to get some...

Hugs from Billy

Lucky lucky girl you are C-K-C, I LOOOOOOVE liver too, not raw, cooked ones only!

Mumpkin adds fibre to the diet, so if you have diarrhea, it will firm up the poop, if you are constipated, it will soften the poop, like what fibre does.

So sorry about Mikey.. but he was so loved and I'm sure had a great life.

Love nibbles,
Miss Sunshade

Hey C-K-C, hehe..... poor daddy haha!!

To answer your question, no I don't fart at all and mum believes that's because my food is easily digested and assimilated. Mum does give me digestive enzymes when she feeds me now because she says I'm older and I may not digest food as well as a younger dog. STINKY, as much as I would love to tell you he STINKS, he doesn't fart either, and he doesn't get digestive enzymes.

I used to fart when I was eating kibbles, and that's probably because of all the grains in the kibbles (hard for dogs to digest). My poop was very big as well.

Please make sure you get raw meaty bones if you want to go with the raw diet. You can't just buy the supermarket ground beef or chicken without bones as bones are ESSENTIAL to the raw diet. Please feel free to contact us if you have more questions regarding the raw diet.

If you are not so sure about going raw, another possibility is a dog kibble called Innova EVO. It is based on the raw diet theory, designed for people who would like to feed raw, but for one reason or another can't. It is a grain free diet, low carb, high protein, hence high digestibility. This is the ONLY brand of kibble mum would feed me. I get the canned version of Innova EVO when we go on camping trip. I believe this should eliminate or reduce the *ahem* gassy problem by a lot.

This is the product information of Innova EVO:

I ran a search, here are the stores in your area that carries Innova EVO:

Hope this helps, and please let me know how this goes!!

Love nibbles,
Miss Sunshade

Sorry your friend Mikey died. How sad.

Your liver treats look so yummy! Linda makes Sunshade's mom's biscotti recipe for me and I love it. Linda adds 8 oz. of liverwurst to the recipe because I love that stuff.

Hi Charlie, Sorry to hear you lost a friend. That's always very sad. But happy to hear you saw others and had liver treats. My mom gives me turkey necks too. I love them! She started giving them to me because I had problems with self expression (ahem, of my anal glands) and kept on because they keep my teeth so clean.

p.s. Sweet potatoes are also yummy.
